1996 Cadillac Deville Fault codes PO716 & PO717

Smog test station reported the two fault codes listed and service engine liight resulting in a functional fail (emissions all ok) What can be done to erase computer memory long enough to pass the smog test? Thanks

It seem like you are not intersted in fixing the codes, you may need MIL Eliminator to pass the smog test .

PO716 and 717. In California.

The smog technician wrote on the order "MIL is on (2) fault codes found-see VIR. Service engine soon light is on."

The car passed the visual inspection and emmissions test but failed the functional check.

They gave me the impression, without saying outright, something could be done to "wipe out the computer memory" operate the car through a few drive cycles to reboot the computer and retake the test.

Both codes are related to the coolant temperature sensor. Probably a bad sensor.
