Hello, I am planning to buy a 1998 - 2003 model manual Mustang. So can you tell me what all I should be checking when buying one? And I have a Honda Prelude 2001 now, can you tell me the maintenance difference also?

If you are looking to buy an 8 cylinder Mustang then you want to look for signs of abuse. That means check the oil level, look under the rear of the vehicle, for signs of rubber (indications of burnouts), look for oil leaks under the vehicle especially on the rear differential.

Then when you are driving it listen to the engine for any rattling or knocking.

As for the transmission, it should shift easily with no grinding and the clutch should not feel like it is slipping.

As for the maintenance, there is nothing special or much different then Honda. Change the oil every 3,000 miles, and rotate the tires every 6,000. Then air and fuel filters no more then 15,000. I attached the service that needs to be performed every 30,000 as that is the largest for these vehicles.

Let us know if you have more questions. Thanks
