Hello,

I recently replaced the clutch, oil filter, battery and ignition switch to the car. Yesterday, once I got back home the car was accelerating on its own. Reaching to around 2 000 RPMs and going back and then immediately back on 2k and so on. Decided to let it be checked again from the same garage. They open up the place under the steering wheel and they see that the wires are actually exposed, and that the car might even catch on fire. They just told me that it needs to be checked by an electrician and that they don't know what the problem might be.
Does anyone have any idea?
Thanks in advance to everyone.

Hi,

That is a difficult question for me to answer. If the insulation is melted from the wiring, there is a short or shorts. Interestingly, before that would have happened, a fuse should have failed. By any chance did someone replace a fuse or fuses with a higher amperage fuse?

Next, I agree with the shop that you need someone with knowledge specific to auto-electric to inspect the vehicle. If the wires are exposed, it could cause a fire.

If there is any insulation left on the wires, I would need to know the colors. Also, did you replace the ignition switch or was it a shop?

Let me know.

Take care,

joe
