On a recent episode of the Today Show they were giving "gas saving tips" and one of them was: in stop and go traffic turn off your cruise control. Most of my friends and myself included leave our cruise controls "on" all the time. How does turning it "off" when not needed save gas and how much of a savings would be realized on the average car that gets, say 20 miles to the gallon on average? Most of us feel the gas savings would be minimal at best.

I would tend to think minimal as well. There are probably studies done somewhere, but it may still come down to personal driving habits that play into it.

Try it for a fill up one way and then try the next fill up the other way.
