When im driving, it being short or ling distance, my RPM kicks up randomly.
why would this happen?

Hi:
A few things could this problem. It could be the throttle position sensor or the idle air control, plus some other things. Is the check engine light coming on? I would recommend having the computer scanned at a nationally recognized parts store for codes. Many stores will do it for free, and it should point you in the direction of the problem.
