2003 Buick Rendezvous 6 cyl All Wheel Drive Automatic

i was told my engine makes a tapping noise because of a cheap oil filter I want to know if an acdelco or fram is any differant I was told they have a check valve inside and dont let oil flow back to pan

Actually, every oil filter has the anti-drainback and bypass valve built in. It is how the valve is constructed that makes the difference. Cheaper brands use nitrile rubber diaphrams that can get stiff in cold weather and fail to seal properly. The more expensive brands are actually spring-loaded steel and work much better. Some of the "in-between" brands use a spring-loaded plastic valve, however, that is often not molded enough to make the proper seal and once again allowing the oil to leak by.
