Can you run a 1997 Buick Regal without the supercharger if you use a shorter belt?

Yes it's bad. There is a grinding noise when at idle. If you have a place to help, I would greatly appreciate a name and number.

not very well, the supercharger will be a restriction in the air intake system. especially if the bearings are locked up and the fins wont turn.

and the ECM is expecting the charger to be working.

So, yes, you can run the engine without it, but the car probably wont be driveable.

I know there are some places that rebuild them for cheap, if the problem is yours is bad.
I'll search through my notes for a name and number if that is the case.
