Hi guys,

My car was hit while parked and the front end had tp be rebuilt.

It is done, but the external temperature sensor is gone and we can't find the wires that go to it. Can you tell me where the wires for the sensor come from and where the sensor SHOULD be located.

I assume that once the sensor is installed, the interior display should work again.

Thank you so much,
Hirsh

The sensor is mounted on the front center hood latc brace, the wires should come out of the harness right at that spot.

Thanks for the tip on locating the sensor. I think I found it right where you said.

Now. How do I find out whether the wire was cut (visually it apears the spagetti tubing was damaged but the wires do not seem visually cut) and how can I test the sensor itself.

IOW. How do I troubleshoot the esternal temperature sensor? As a reminder, the display on the dash stays on the preset cabin temp and would normally change to the ext temp after a second or so.

Thanks again so much. Hirsh

First if the sensor is bad, normally the service engine soon light would be on, and you would have code B1310 set in the PCM. You need a GM capable scan tool for this that can read Body module codes. But you can test the sensor with an ohm meter.I would have uploaded a picture but the site is experiencing problems.
