1997 Buick Park Avenue gauges

I think I might have a short in the wiring some where. All my gauges especilally the temp, and fuel gauge, every once in a while will completely flash and go around as far as it can go and hits the post Now the two needles on the gauges have gone past the post, and have no way of getting back to it's original position. Is there a way to reposition the needles back to where it should be without taking everything apart. It would be nice if there was a quick fix to this problem.

Unfortunately there is no fast fix. We have seen alot of these cars doing this. Usually happens with a voltage spike or jump starting

Get a good magnet. Hold it close to the plastic glass in front of the gauge. Turn the magnet counter clockwise until the needle gets back to normal position.
