1994 Buick Park Avenue

I have a 1994 buick park avenue that I have ownfor almost a year. Recently I parked it in my yard, I returned the next day and was unable to put it into gear. Any idea what the problem may be?

Do you mean the shifter won't move or it does but the transmission won't engage?

Yes the shifter will not move period I dont understand what the problem can be I have had it almost a year but I havent driven it in 7 months so can the transmission just go out like that when it isn't being driven?

If the shifter won't move, it sounds like the park lock solenoid isn't working. This may sound funny, but are the rear brake lights working?
