Smells problem
1992 Buick Park Avenue 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

what would cause a car to smell like gas when there is no visable leak. It smells really bad when the heater is on.

First of all, this is a very dangerous situation. Fumes can kill you. You should stop driving your car until you identify the source of these fumes.

It's possible your fuel pressure regulator is leaking fuel. You can pull the vacuum hose that connects to the FPR and smell for fuel. Sometimes they will leak.

Next check all the fuel lines/filter for wetness. Finally, check the exhaust system for leaks (including the catalytic converter).
