I AM NO EXPERT. REPEAT NO EXPERT.I'M ASSUMING YOU HAVE A 3800 V6 ENGINE, MILEAGE WOULD HELP. HAVE THEY BEEN REPLACED BEFORE? WHAT ABOUT THE WIRES? I WOULD STICK WITH AC DELCO PLUGS #41-601, GAP 0.060". GAP AND MFG. ARE INPORTANT. STICK WITH AC DELCO PLUGS. I WOULD GO AHEAD AND REPLACE THE WIRES TOO IF THEY ARE ORIGINAL. BACK TO PLUGS. THE STORE MIGHT OFFER TO GAP THEM FOR YOU. IMPORTANT HERE. DOUBLE CHECK THEM BEHIND THEM AND MAKE SURE OF THE GAP. THEY USUALLY HAVE A FREE TO.50 CENT GAP TOOL (ROUND WITH A KEYHOLE THING IN IT) TO BUY OR GIVE YOU. THEY DON'T ALWAYS GET THE GAP RIGHT. REMEMBER THE OLD SAYING "LEFTY LOOSEY, RIGHTY TIGHTY" THIS APPLYS TO MOST ALL THREADS IN THE USA AND IT APPLYS TO PLUGS TOO. SO TURN THEM LEFT TO LOOSEN THEM AND RIGHT TO TIGHTEN THEM (NEW) BACK GOOD AND SNUG. DON'T HAVE AN IDEA AS TO FT LBS HERE.

OK. START WITH A COLD ENGINE (OVER NIGHT) PARK IT WHERE YOU ARE GOING TO WORK ON IT. I LIKE TO DO THIS IN THE SHADE SO YOU WILL NEED A LIGHT SOURCE TO SEE WHAT YOU ARE DOING. (DROP LIGHT) DON'T WORK ON WARM OR HOT ENGINE HEADS. YOURS EITHER, TAKE YOUR TIME HERE ONE AT A TIME AND USE AUTOMOTIVE WORK GLOVES TOO. I HATE CUTS AND SCRAPES. OF COURSE, THE BACK ONES WILL HAVE YOU CUSSING BEFORE IT IS ALL OVER WITH AND HAVE TIME TO DO THIS. IT AIN'T COMPLICATED. THEY ARE JUST 6. FOR THE HECK OF IT, I WOULD START WITH THE BACK ONES FIRST TO MAKE SURE YOU WANT TO FINISH THE JOB INSTEAD OF A MECHANIC. THIS MIGHT SETTLE THE WHOLE PROJECT FIRST. PULLING THOSE BACK WIRES OFF CAN BE A LOT OF FUN. PUN INTENDED. PLUGS OUT AND IN TOO. START WITH THE BACK ONES (ADVICE). GO HARD TO EASY IF YOU ARE LIKE ME. TENDS TO MAKE MY MIND UP QUICK AS TO IF I WANT TO DO IT. IT SORT OF PISSES OFF A MECHANIC TO SEE THE EASY STUFF DONE AND BROUGHT TO HIM FOR THE HARD STUFF AND YOU WILL SEE IT IN THE BILL. I HAVE LEARNED THIS THE HARD WAY.

TOOLS REQUIRED: MINE.3/8" SOCKET WRENCH, 5/8" HEX SPARK PLUG SOCKET WITH 3/8" SQUARE DRIVE, 2 SIZES OF 3/8" EXTENSIONS (1 ABOUT 12" LONG AND 1 ABOUT 3" LONG), ALSO A 3/8" ELBOW, DID I MENTION GLOVES, TIME, DROP LIGHT, PATENCE AND COOL HEADS (ALL OF THEM)? I THINK I COVERED ALL OF IT. YOU MIGHT END UP USING A WOMAN'S MIRROR TOO TO SEE. THAT IS, IF YOU ARE LIKE ME. ALSO, TAKE YOUR BELT OFF SO YOU WON'T SCRATCH UP THE PAINT WITH YOUR BUCKLE. CAN USE IT TO HANG YOURSELF TOO BEFORE IT IS ALL OVER (HA HA). SOMETHING TO STAND ON IS NICE TOO IF YOU ARE A LITTLE ON THE AVERAGE SIZE PERSON.

WIRES. YOUR CHOICE. AGE PLAYS A B I G FACTOR HERE. IF THEY ARE OLD YOU MIGHT AS WELL REPLACE THEM TOO WHILE YOU ARE AT IT. HERE YOU DON'T HAVE TO STICK WITH AC DELCO, BUT GET A GOOD QUALITY SET OF WIRES. DON'T BE CHEAP HERE. THEY WILL BE SIX OF THEM OF DIFFERENT LENGTHS TO MATCH WHAT CAME OFF YOUR CAR. SO YOU WILL HAVE TO PLAY THE MATCH GAME HERE. STUDY THEM GOOD AND MATCH THE RIGHT ONES FROM WHERE THEY CAME FROM AND GO. IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN. YOU DON'T NEED #1 GOING TO WRONG CYL. IF YOU FOLLOW ME. ALL OF THE PLASTIC COVERS AND SUCH JUST SNAP ON AND OFF. PUT ALL OF THE OLD STUFF (COVERS) BACK ON THE NEW STUFF AND USE THAT ELECTRICAL GREASE, THAT CAME WITH THE WIRES, ON THE NEW PLUGS AND WIRES!

PVC VALVE. WHILE YOU ARE AT IT, REPLACE IT NOW. IT'S A FAIRLY CHEAP PART AND SIMPLE.

MY.02 CENTS WORTH OF INFO. HAVE A GOOD DAY!
