Hi,

Mfg: Buick
Model: LaSabre
Year: 1996

Problem: the steering wheel was very hard to turn. So basically there is no power steering.

The belt tensioner froze thus damaging the power steering pump. The shop replaced the belt, belt tensioner (1.060 SP) and power steering pump.

Question:
In the process of replacing the power steering pump, belt (which loops around the power steering pump) and belt tensioner, is the engine, transmission or any part of the coolant system (hose, etc) touched or removed in anyway? In other words, if not done properly can coolant leak into the engine or transmission?

Thank you,
