1995 Buick Lesabre Front Wheel Drive Automatic

I had just brought my little sister home from work and parked my car in the driveway, then about 15 mins later she decides she wants ice cream or something so we were going to take a quick ride to the grocery store, I backed the car out of the driveway then went to put it into drive and I thought I accidentally had it in neutral because the engine just revved up when pressing my foot on the accelerator I had to put the gear all the way on 1 just to be able to drive my car back into my driveway? After explaining this to my family members one said it may be the timing belt, but I don't think he knows much about cars. I bought my car a few months ago and had an estimate done at goodyear and there was a list of things that needed fixing nothing major but they did add that the serpentine belt would need to be replaced eventually. But they never said anything about the transmission or the engine. I haven't checked the transmission fluid as my boyfriend does that stuff and he will be checking that in the morning for me.

Yes, the first thing to do is check trans fluid level. Needs to be on a flat surface with the engine running. If low add and check for leaks. If level is fine you will need to visit a trans shop.
