1995 Buick Lesabre oil pan gasket

I have a 95 buick lesabre custom 3.8 and the oil pan gasket is leaking.I looked up a new gasket and it looks more like an oil pan liner! Ive never seen anything like this before. Do I need to replace it or can I just liquid gasket it?

Hi:
Yes, that is what they look like. Also, you should replace the gasket and not use form a gasket. The gasket is made like that to keep the oil from sloshing around and possibly starving the engine form oil.

Great question. I can't answer that other than a great design (LOL). Most likely one of GM's CEO's 22 year old sons who got a engineering degree online designed it, and his father felt too bad to say no.

If you want, I can confirm what I was taught with some of the other techs. Let me know.
