Engine Cooling problem
2001 Buick Century 6 cyl Automatic

I need to know how to exactly remove and replace a thermostat. I look at the other questions and could not find out how. I know where the housing is at but there is allot of other things it look like I need to take off first. I'm not sure if I can just start removing things with out consequences so I thought I just ask first.
Thanks in advance.

Drain some coolant
carefully remove the throttle body air inlet duct
remove the air pipe
remove the exhaust crossover pipe

loosen and reposition hose clamp at the housing
disconnect the radiator hose from housing

remove the thermostat housing bolts and remove thermostat and gasket

Risk of fire.
