There is a two prong blue male plug directly behind the alternator.

I cannot find any matching female receptacle in the same area.

It is a short wire off of the small bundle.

Any ideas what it attaches to or is it a test plug?

Your alternator is a model that's shared with other GM brands.

Your car wasn't equipped with a certain option that required that connector.

You have no need to worry. If you were to look under your hood very carefully, you'd see many other empty connectors also.
