2000 Buick Century car troubles

I have a 2000 model buick century that has been in the shop over 5 times in the past year. transmission was replaced 1 week after I bought it 3 years ago. Now it is sputtering especially at around 50-70 mph like it is not getting gas but the tank is full. It does not seem to have any get up and go anymore. I need this car to last me about another year. The mechanic mentioned the Cadallic converter (expensive to fix) but my parents have the same care and just replaced the cadallic converter and the problem was fixed for about a month now it is doing it again. Any ideas before I go drop hundreds repairing it again? (also under driver side door it makes a ting....ting...ting.... when the car is turned off, didn't know if that would help with anything, I have gotten mixed answers on that one.)

Has the fuel filter been replaced any time recent? If not I would start there and see what happens. I would also check the air filter and maybe clean the mass air flow meter with mass air flow cleaner. Get back to me and we will go from there. Thanks and have a great day.

I think the fuel filter has been replaced that was one of the prior repairs. The car was dying on me when it warmed up, but once it cooled off I could drive it home. I believe the fuel filter was replaced then or maybe some sort of sensor. I will check and see for sure. Is there any possibility it could be the cadalic converter? Or should I just rule that one out completely. I will get back with you on what all has been repaired in the past.

It could be a cat. If you want to make sure you could call around to exhaust shops and see if any of them do a exhaust flow test to see if the flow rate is ok that way you could rule this out.
