2004 BMW X3 Not warming

The heat when turned on does not heat. The fan blows great, but it is cold air. The low coolant light came on and we put more coolant in and for about a day it was ok, now it is back low and cold air again.

sounds like your water pump is faulty, or you got a leak somewhere else. when water is low, it wont go through the heater core, thus no heat, if the water pump is driping or making a "grinding" noise then the pump is bad, if not its leaking somewhere else, change the pump or find and stop the leak and you should be fine
