2000 BMW 530 alarm/immobilser

After unlocking and opening car with remote sometimes there is no response to turning the key i.E. No dashboard lights engine doesn't turn. If I open door close it and open again it works. Also sometimes operating teh remote sets off the alarmwhich can't be cancelled with the key fob but by opening the door

The general module controls those functions and it possible the one in your car may need scanning for relevant faults and/or recoding. These functions can be done at the dealer or most independent BMW shops. It requires proprietary software and equipment that is quite expensive.
