Computer problem
1999 BMW 528 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

ABS LIGHT, SERVICE ENG. LIGHT, ETC. CAME ON. SPEEDOMETER QUIT, CRUISE CONTROL QUIT AND TRANSMISSION WENT INTO LIMP HOME MODE - HAD CAR SCANNED - SHOWED RIGHT FRONT VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR AND A VALVE/SOLENOID IN ABS MODULE - CHANGED THE SPEED SENSOR & CLEARED CODES - ABS LIGHT STAYED ON BUT EVERYTHING ELSE WORKED FOR ABOUT 10 MILES ! THEN IT ALL WENT BACK TO WHERE IT WAS BEFORE !
EVERYTHING ON LINE POINTS TO ABS CONTROL MODULE - IS THIS RIGHT?
ALSO READ BMW/BOSCH HAS HAD TROUBLE WITH ABS SYSTEM (MODULE) ON THIS VINTAGE 5 SERIES, BUT WILL NOT DO A RECALL.
SINCE BOSCH MAKES THE REPAIR KIT FOR THE ABS SYSTEM, HAVE THEY CORRECTED THE PROBLEM OR WILL THE SAME THING HAPPEN AGAIN?
HOW DO YOU TELL THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN DYNAMIC & AUTOMATIC STABILITY CONTROL? (TWO DIFFERENT REPAIR KITS)

As to the last question first, it is VIN specific, or look at the ASC or DSC button above the ashtray for which it is. The repair kit will fix it, and it will need to be coded to the car. It may well break again.
