2004 BMW 525i Slow coasting, differential noise

I have a 2004 BMW 525I. It has 108000 miles. Most of which were highway using the cruise control at 75. My question is that my car seems to coast to a low speed more quickly now when I driving off of the interstate. It also seems that the rear differential is getting louder. What can I do to improve the situation? Thanks in advance Robert.

The possibility the differential will require replacement certainly seems likely, if you choose to do so, I suggest a synthetic gear lubricant. Of course you will want to have the noise inspected by a professional, it may be a wheel bearing and cyberspace makes a pinpoint diagnosis impractical.
