Oil Pressure

I recently bought a BMW 525i. Everything was ok, but suddenly the computer is telling me that the oil pressure is low, I checked and filled the oil and the transmission oil, but the light still stays on. I do know that when the engine was overhauled, just before I bought it, the sensor was damaged. Could this just be a computer problem, or is it serious?

The oil pressure sending unit is a small bolt like item. It simply screws in and has a wire connection on the opposite side. Price is under $20. Replace it first. Running an engine with no oil pressure will ruin it in a matter of minutes.
