2002 BMW 330i has 89,000 miles. I took the car in for service-oil change, brake flush & fluid. Three days later the Check Engine light illuminated. Took it back to the dealer and they read the following codes: P 0740-Torque converter clutch circuit malfunction, P 0741-Torque converter clutch circuit performance or Stuck Off. And P2762. Other numbers: code 048 30 converter lock up clutch pre-tsb 21-03-06 milage 77108. I also had the module for general faults replaced on 4/5/06. The car rides well and I have seen no change in gas milage. The dealer recommends a new torque converter. I think there might be one or more bad sensors or a wiring problem or another computer problem. What can be done to verify the computer is telling the truth?

To interpret the information takes knowing all the facts
and some informed guess work.
After working at the dealer level for many years, I can tell you no body knows it all, not even the dealer.
It is possible you need a converter but I can not recommend replacement with the information available.
You may wish to get a second opinion.
