My 2000 BMW 328i check engine light comes on for a week or so at a time and when it is on the car idles rough and runs rough. It gets better when the car warms up. I had auto zone do a check engine scan and it said (multi cylinder mis-fire). I was told I needed a tuneup but when the light goes out the car runs perfect.

There was a bulletin on that model for faulty ignition coils. Have you received a letter from BMW NA about any recalls. Please repost with the last seven characters of the vehicle identification number
