1999 BMW 323 no fire

I just got this back from an ex boyfriend of my new wifes. He couldnt pay so I had it towed to my house to find out it hadnt ran for 2 weeks. I figured if its got spark and getting gas it should run! Well I was wrong! It has all that but won't start. So woundering if it could be the crank sensor or cam sensor? I can do the work but dont want to pay to find out whats wrong. I'm more into 4x4s and diesels!

You can either throw money at it to try and fix it or have the scanning done and know what is wrong. If there is no fuel pressure, if there is no spark, it wont run. Confirm these things and we can go from there.
