Battery issue

Went on a business trip and had my car sitting at in the gate at my job. Came back last night and the car wouldn’t start at all. Had to get it jumped and the mechanic said it needed a new battery. Got a new one and the power will turn on, but will not start. Cables are tightened and everything.
