Hello! I’m experiencing major difficulties with accessing my Optima hybrids battery in the trunk. Unfortunately, being all electric, the trunk can not open with the key fob. I do see there is a emergency trunk release wire behind the back seat drivers side, but tugging that didn’t even open the trunk as it should! Is there any other way to get the trunk open manually? Thanks

Hello,

There is a way to get the trunk lid open but it will require that you run a jumper wire from the battery + to pin #38 of the instrument panel junction box A. It is located behind the left (drivers side) kick panel. It has the positive(battery +) wire running to the trunk lid motor. I have included wiring diagrams and i/p junction box connector end views for you in the diagrams down below. Please let us know how it turns out.

Thanks,
Alex
