Driver's side axle replacement issue

I am replacing the axle, I have already replaced the passenger side but I’m having a lot of trouble replacing the driver side the short side. I finally pulled and popped part out but it broke and the end of it is still stuck in the transmission. I need help I’ve tried everything.

Hi,

I'm not sure what you are referring to when you say popper. Take a look at the directions below and let me know if you see what has broken.

HINT:

Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
The procedures listed below are for the LH side.
DRAIN AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID (for Automatic Transaxle) [ U760E AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION / TRANSAXLE: DIFFERENTIAL OIL SEAL: REPLACEMENT+ ]
DRAIN MANUAL TRANSAXLE OIL (for Manual Transaxle) [ EB60 MANUAL TRANSMISSION / TRANSAXLE: MANUAL TRANSAXLE OIL: REPLACEMENT+ ]
REMOVE FRONT WHEEL
REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB NUT
Using SST and a hammer, unstake the staked part of the nut.
SST : 09930-00010

09931-00010

09931-00020

NOTICE:

Loosen the staked part of the front axle hub nut completely, otherwise the screw of the drive shaft may be damaged.

While applying the brakes, remove the front axle hub nut.
DISCONNECT FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY [ FRONT SUSPENSION: FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER: REMOVAL+ ]
DISCONNECT FRONT SPEED SENSOR [ AXLE AND DIFFERENTIAL: FRONT AXLE HUB: REMOVAL+ ]
DISCONNECT TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY [ STEERING GEAR / LINKAGE: STEERING GEAR: REMOVAL+ ]
DISCONNECT FRONT NO. 1 SUSPENSION LOWER ARM SUB-ASSEMBLY [ FRONT SUSPENSION: FRONT LOWER SUSPENSION ARM: REMOVAL+ ]
REMOVE FRONT AXLE ASSEMBLY

Put matchmarks on the drive shaft and the axle hub.

*1 Matchmark

Using a plastic-faced hammer, disconnect the drive shaft from the axle hub.
NOTICE:

Be careful not to damage the boot and speed sensor rotor.

Do not excessively push out the drive shaft from the axle assembly.

REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY LH

Using SST, remove the front drive shaft.
SST : 09520-01010

SST : 09520-24010

09520-32040

NOTICE:

Be careful not to damage the transaxle case oil seal, inboard joint boot and drive shaft dust cover.
Be careful not to drop the drive shaft assembly.
REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY RH

Remove the 2 bolts and pull out the drive shaft together with the drive shaft bearing case.
Remove the drive shaft from the transaxle.
NOTICE:

Be careful not to damage the inboard joint boot and drive shaft dust cover.
Be careful not to drop the drive shaft assembly.

Yeah. These are pretty tough to get out and you most likely are going to need to use a slide hammer. I attached the info from the manual and it shows using a slide hammer.

Basically this is something that hooks on the back of the axle and then you use the slide hammer portion to use the force and shock of the sliding hammer to break it loose.

Take a look at this and let me know what questions you have. You can rent these at most parts stores so you don't need to buy them.
