2000 Audi A6 INSIDE REARVIEW MIRROR REPLACEMENT

How can the interior rear view mirror with electronic dimming be removed from the windshield and replaced? The mirror actuates the side view dimmers correctly but not itself. I believe the windshield attachment can remain on the windshield and the mirror assembly can be detached.

Unclip the cable channel cover.
Remove the harness connector from the retainer and disconnect.
Pull the rearview mirror down at an angle to release it from the retaining plate (retaining springs in base of mirror).

To install:

CAUTION
Do NOT use the cable channel to turn the mirror.

Install the mirror at 60-90 degrees offset to the installation position and turn it until the retaining spring engages.
