Can this sensor, if bad or cut affect engine temperature or cluster needle in any way?

Hi,

If you are referring to the outside ambient air temperature sensor, no, it wouldn't affect the engine temperature or cluster gauge. The outside ambient temperature sensor is connected with a separate ground (analog ground) and a sensor line (analog positive) to the instrument cluster and functions in an on/off every minute.

What is happening with the vehicle? Are you having an overheating issue?

Let us know.

Take care,

Joe
