Alternator comes on then shuts off

I have a 2000 Mazda Protege 1.6L and has a brand new alternator in it and when I first crank the car it will begin to charge but will shut off after about ten seconds. Any idea of what could be the problem?

Try resetting your security system if no manual look online for your vehicle
