Terminology clarification please

Hi all,

I am seeing a lot of people asking about a "service engine soon " light, now are they referring to a ECU check light for a fault, or do you have many cars with service interval indicators, here many cars have flashing speedo indicators for service due reminders, but not a light that says service engine soon, just wondering, not stressing. Much.

Service engine soon, check engine, check engine soon etc. Is all for ECU check here in America. The newer model cars do have the service reminder lights as well, but they are separate from the check engine light.
