99 Linc. Cont. driverside door ajar won't shut off

That pretty much covers it. My driver side door ajar warning won't shut off. This used to happen once in a while, but it always straightened itself out. Someone told me there's a sensor inside the door panel. Is this true. If so, do I have to bring it to a dealer to fix it? Somebody please help. It's driving me crazy. :evil:

The door lock has a switch that may be disconnected.

Thanks Lee. I just had to pull the fuse that controls the interior lights, otherwise they'd be on all night and I'd have a dead battery in the morning
