2003 Intrepid transmission

Hi, I recentlu bought a 2003 intrepid with 76000 miles, the engine sounds ok but engine light is on most of the times. The problem I am having is related to the transmission. It would not shift from s\econd to third, so rpms get high. The light goes on and off. And this shifting problem is not always present. Thanks

First thing I would do, Is get you cars trouble codes scanned, To give you a idea what sensors causing the problem, Also I would get youre transmisson filter and gasket serviced, Also make sure you use ATF 3 tranny fluid.
