Sometimes the transmission gear starts slipping. This happens when I stop and go, stop and go in traffic. And all of a sudden the gear starts slipping from 1 to 5. When the car changes the gear, the car jerks. I had gone to the GM dealer to diagnose the problem; they could not fiind anything. But I am still having the problem with the gear slipping. Please advise me on the problem, and I will appreciate it. Thank You

I have an 01 Grand Prix that also has the hard shifting. I have not brought it in, but I have changed the fluid and filter in the tranny. Did the dealer do that at all? How does the fluid look and smell?

Let met know!

So what exactly happens when you get to 40mph? What does the car sound like? My first thought would be that your tranny is shot. But you never know

I have an '02 Grand Prix, 64,400 miles, that "jerks" when it shifts as well. But it usually only happens after I have been driving for a while (30-40 minutes). I did have my transmission flushed at a quick - stop oil change place recently but that didn't help.
