Hello, I recently purchased a 2000 Explorer, I had a mechanic check the vehicle over before my purchase and he found error code P1206 Theft Detected Engine Disabled, I believe this is correct his writing is hard to read, this vehicle did not come with the key fobs and I was wondering if this might be something that was bypassed because the fobs are missing, the vehicle is equipped with some kind of theft option as the word theft blinks inside the instument cluster when the vehicle is turned off, so I guess that means one of two things, it is either actually equipped with some sort of theft device or the police are gonna be banging on my door in the near future , lol, thx in advance.

Maybe this will help the next guy, the error code I stated in my original question is caused by someone trying to use the wrong key in the vehicle ignition, it causes the theft system to not allow the car to start, it will stop the theft process when the proper key is inserted but it will not clear the error code in the computer, it does not effect the way the vehicle runs in anyway, thx to my friend who used to work at a Ford dealer and a quick phone call !
