1999 Grand Caravan transmission

I have a 99 caravan 113k miles just yesterday while excelerating up to highway speed the transmission would not shift any higher than 3rd gear> I pulled over shut the engine off and restarted. The engine shifted higher but was jerky in doing so. Also when I am slowing down the transmission sporatically shifts in a lot lower gear fast very jerky. Any ideas? THis only seems only to happen when the outside temp reaches 99 and above which has been alot lately.

When was the last time the fluid and filter were changed?

I don't know when it was last changed I have owned it 2 months but the guy I bought it from was excellent about maintenance. Since my last question I had the code read and have a code p0700 does that help any?

Trans control system malfunction. If you know how to check the trans fluid. Look at the dipstick and see if the fluid is pink or dark. If it's dark that isn't good. Call autozone and ask, these guys are very good. I wish I could tell you more. If you haven't yet, take it to a trans shop and let them test drive it.
