1996 Intrepid w/128K miles.
Vibration in right front wheel area under accleration, removed wheel, slight movement in CV joints, but lots of movement in shaft coming out of transaxle on right side. My question is this, can the transaxle shaft and cover on right side be removed without removing engine from car? Is this something that can be handled by a proficient home mechanic? Or am I dealer bound?
Thanks for the help and have a great day!

I HAVE A 96 DODGE AVENGER 6 CYL W/ AUTO TRANS. THE OTHER DAY I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THE CAR WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF SECOND GEAR. I BABIED THE CAR HOME AND CHECKED THE FLUID. IT WAS MAYBE ONLY A HALF A QUART LOW AND I ADDED THE SPECIFIED FLUID. IT STILL WOULD ONLY SHIFT FROM FIRST TO SECOND AND THAT WAS IT. THE CAR WAS PARKED AND THE NEXT DAY ALL WAS FINE. ABOUT TWO DAYS LATER I WAS DRIVING IT AND IT FELT AS IF SOMEONE HAD ACTIVATED THE EMERGENCY BREAK AND THE CAR SUDDENLY SLOWED. IT AGAIN WAS STUCK IN SECOND GEAR AND WONT SHIFT TO THIRD OR OVERDRIVE AND THE FLUID LEVEL IS FINE. THE CAR HAS ABOUT 72, OOO MILES.
