1993 Questions for all other cars 64,000 miles

The lip on the engine case that holds the O-ring that seals to the inner primary chaincase has been removed by an incompetent HD dealership and has left me very frustrated. I need to put a bead of sealant along/around the inside of the sprocket/chaincase joint that will have to be exposed to high temperature(350+), petroluem/oil resistant, slight vibration. There is very little surface to apply sealant to the the two metal pieces before assembly. Thats why I believe a bead (3/8-1/2 inch?) Of some type of space age sealant that will deal with the nastiest internal engine environment will be the only thing I am willing to use one more time. The person that tried the repair before used a Permatex product that is Black in color that he said would work but only lasted a few monthes. I do not know what the name/type is. This guy is a fellow HD owner and machinist whom did a great job counter boring the case mounting holes and using shoulder bolts to basically PIN the inner primary to the engine and safety wire the bolts so they would not loosen up. That part worked great, If I can find a MIRACLE sealant to use and keep this bike from loosing oil and keeping me out of a THERAPIST's office and on the road where I belong I would be grateful and willing to pay good money for a solution that doesn't force me to replace the engine cases at $2000.00+ because some careless mechanic left some bolts loose and will not stand behind there work. Sorry about the long explanation. A little venting was needed before I explode with frustration. HELP me please!

Hi there,

I would try the Toyota "Black" oil sealant, this is great stuff, they use it to chemically seal all metal to metal joints in their engines like sumps and covers rather than gaskets, try this.
