1993 Achieva 2.3L - 190K I replaced the coil housing after it was hard starting in wet weather and it ran great for 200 miles when it abruptly shut down. Thinking the ICM was running hotter with the new coil housing, I waited 30 min and it restarted and ran great. I parked it for a few days and when I restarted, it ran for a few seconds and shut down. I checked the codes and it sent a Code 19 so replaced the ICM and
it started and ran great at idle for 10 min and shut down again. I checked the codes again and it sent
code 19 again. If it's a 7X resync it should run rough but it runs perfect until it shuts down. The wiring looks good, and no non-engine electrical components
were on. I didn't want to replace the ECM or PROM if there was another possible cause.

A faulty crankshaft position sensor can cause that, try that before the PCM, cheaper and easier

If there's a short in the CKP Sensor, wouldn't that send a code?
This also has the original fuel pump and some later
publications (other than the service manual) list a
Code 19 as a fuel pump circuit short for some GM
models. But I'll try the CKP this PM. Thanks
