I am looking into purchasing a 1990 Seville. The owner states the cv joint makes sonds until highway speed is reached which I guess he means 45 mph or greater. The asking price is under $750. I was wondering if I do get this, should I replace the complete shaft right away, or just wait and see if the noise gets louder over time and then replace?

I think it would be a good idea to replace the axle as soon as possible

Check prices for new and rebuild ones, but they are generally around $70.

This is the complete assy. Usually the boot gets ripped and lube leaks out and water gets to bearings.

If you can't do work yourself, it will cost $2000-500 for labor.

It would be a good time to get entire car checked by mechanic.
