I was driving from texas to florida when my truck started decellerating and squeeling, like a metal type of squeeling. When it came to a stop it died and wouldnt turn over. I got it looked at at pep boys and they said it was either a spent main or rod bearing. I really have no idea what those are i've been trying to look them up to see if it's something I can repair myself. I have access to a shop with all the tools jacks, engine hoists n stuff. Please help thx

Do you mean a spun main bearing? No unless you have done a complete engine rebuild. If a main has spun it has also ruined the crankshaft journal.
That means a complete teardown! But take it to a real mechanic. Pep boy are just that. BOYS!

Thanks I appreciate the reply, i'll see what a "real" mechanic has got to say about it, you're not the first person to give that advice so it must be good :P
