I have a 1974 mg midget, 1275. Pulled moter out, took transmission off. Took side cover off to inspeck gears, They looked fine so proceeded to put every thing back. The last thing I done was put gear shift on. The transmission wont go in any gear, I turned drive shaft and it turns moter and all. So it must be stuck in gear even though it is in nuetral postion.

Hi there,

great car this! You will have to remove the side plate and make sure each selector hub is in it's neutral position, I am really stretching the brain, but if I remember correctly there are 3 shifter forks, 1-2, 3-4 and reverse idler, is that correct? Just make sure the hubs are in neutral and the reverse idler is disengaged when the forks slide into the selectors, feed them in on an Angle so that you can see them going into position ok. If this is not how they look to you, let me know and I will get into work over the week end and track down a manual I think I have there.
