Two weeks ago while driving on the highway, the car downshifted and the check engine light came on. The engine code that appeared was "P0700" and "P0755". P0755 called out the Shift Solenoid B Malfunction. Took my car to an independent mechanic and had him replace solenoid pack. The next day while driving to work, the car downshifted again at highway speeds. The mechanic suggested taking it to the dealer. The dealer saw the same engine codes and suggested a new transmission. Decide against getting a new transmission.

Now my car is at a second independent mechanic to due a computer diagnostic. The mechanic did notice the abrupt downshift and said that the transmission entered "limp-mode" after while driving.

My question is: After replacing the shift solenoid, what else can be the problem? Any advice I can tell the mechanic to look for? Or what I can do?

My first advise would be to take the car to a transmission shop, not an independent. Second this vehicle has a lot of issue with underdrive solonoids which are internal to the trans, but are serviceable by a trans shop.I would suggest that the indy tech check out these hyundia t.S.B.'S. The first is number 02-40-026. The second is 05-04-006-02.
