1996 Acura RL Check Engine Light

The check engine light in my vehicle came on for the first time about a year ago. I had the Intake Manifold/EGR valve cleaned and it turned off but, within 3 weeks it came back on again. My mechanic cannot figure out what is wrong with it and now sometimes when I'm stopped and idling I can see exhaust billowing up the rear of my vehicle. Do I need to replace the EGR valve or something else?

I honestly have no idea. If this helps the O2 Sensor would not pass the emissions test last year. It never came out with a code.

Get a free scan done at Autozone and let me know what it is.

It can be the O2 sensor plus others and the codes would tell us what they are.
