Where in my car is the brake light switch located?

My 2001 acura mdx gear shift wont get out of park. It's just stuck. I also think I have a faulty brake light switch, as my brake lights do not work. Will fixing my brake light switch allow me to move the gear shift out of park? Or is it something else? Is the brake light switch expensive? Where in my car is the brake light switch located? Please Help. Thank u.

Hello,

Yes a bad brake light switch will stop the car from coming out of gear due to the shift interlock solenoid will not working.

Here are some diagrams that will help you get the job done (below). The switch is located at the top of the brake pedal arm under the dash on the drivers side.
