In the past three months, the following happened twice. I was slowing down to stop at a traffic light.
When releasing the accelerator, the engine started to rev up. It got above 5,000 and stayed there. It took some effort on the brakes to keep the car from moving forward. I pulled over to the shoulder and turned off the engine which continued to diesel for awhile. I started the car and it reved up again. After shutting it off, I rotated the throttle a couple of times. The throttle didn't seem to be stuck. When I restarted everything was fine. Any suggestions?

check the floor mat. i find alot of times he floor mat gets stuck in the linkage. if not floor mat, look at the throttle bore and see if it is full of carbon and clean it with carb cleaner. also check all cables to make sure there is no obstructions.
