My check engine light came on. According to Autozone, it was due to a failed TDC sensor. Do I need to replace the entire distributor, or is it possible to fix the TDC sensor itself. My car is having no problems with RPMs, high speeds, etc, other than the check engine light on. Sorry I dont have money for a donation. Thanks for any help you can offer!

Hi ajdavisv,

Testing is required to verify what is causing the trouble code to show. Possible causes are

1. Sensor fault, complete distributor assy has to be replaced. Test the sensor coil resistance to confirm if that is the cause. Test for wire shorting to body ground.

2. PCM fault.

3. Wiring fault. A short or open circuit between sensor and PCM.

Do you have a DVOM and can you perform basic tests?
