My car has been acting very strange since we bought it, used, but last week, it finally came to the inoperable stage and I need some help. Until few weeks ago, the same thing happened every time I drove; the car starts normal, accelerates normal at first, then the car jerks violently once after about 20-30 seconds going at 20-30mph and the gear lamp on interior panel starts blinking then the ATB lamp comes on. After that, the car drives very sluggish, makes it seems like I'm trying to start driving in 2nd or 3rd gear after coming to a complete stop. Occasionally, the gear starts slipping. If I floor it, the gauge goes all the way, red line but doesn't go any faster. Once the car comes to a stop or slows down enough for the gear to shift correctly, it will be fine. However, eventually, it will always just go back to the stage where the gear lamp blinking ATB light on, sluggish, and slow start. In addition to that, car is always hot, adding coolant almost every 3 days. Burning a lot of gas. Radiator is replaced. Oil changed, sparks plugs new. My guess is either water pump, O2 sensor, MAF or somewhere around that. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance.

Hi midookie,

Thank you for the donation.

The D light blinking indicates an error has been detected in the transmission control system and you need to perform a scan to retrieve the Diagnostic Trouble Code.

If coolant reserve tank is also empty with coolant losses, there should be leak in the system and the best way to find out is to perform a pressure test.

It could be hoses joints, water pump or any other components.
